The Cardiovascular System's Response to Acute Exercise
The cardiovascular system's response to acute exercise can be discussed in many ways. It has plenty of response's to this exercise. This is the system that circulates blood and lymph through the body, consisting of the heart, blood, lymph and the lymphatic vessels and glands. A response to this exercise may be the Anticipatory heart rate. The Anticipatory Response is when the heart rate increases at the beginning of exercise. The heart rate can be changed by chemicals by neurotransmitters , called adrenaline and nor adrenaline which are released and found in the brain. These neurotransmitters are the chemicals found and released from the brain which allow an impulse from one nerve cell to pass to another nerve cell. These chemicals tell the heart to get ready for exercise therefore there is an increase in beats per minute, heart rate increases. By increasing our heart rate our body begins to supply oxygen and nutrients for our working muscles.
Another response can be through the heart rate at the onset of exercise, the heart rate increases during exercise to increase the blood flow, this is to ensure it gets around the body and to the working muscles as it carries nutrients they need. This also means there is more oxygen supplied to the working muscles. Different types of training methods require different heart rates.
An increase in blood pressure is another response to the cardiovascular system with acute exercise, this means that more blood is circulated around the body, arteries resist the blood flow causing and increase in pressure. Systolic blood pressure increases during exercise plus heart rate increases which equals to more blood flow. When we start to exercise, the blood pressure in our arteries increase so that the muscles get the oxygen and nutrients needed. If our blood pressure didn't increase during exercise, we would have to stop and would not be able to continue.
Vasodilation is another response to acute exercise on the cardiovascular endurance, it is the constriction of blood vessels, which increases blood pressure. There is an increase in the diameter of the blood vessels and this causes and increased flow to the muscles. The blood flow to the brain is always the same and doesn't change.
Vasoconstriction is the opposite of vasodilation, this is the decrease of the diameter such as in the organs like the digestive system i.e. the liver. There is less blood flow to the less needy areas.
